Bluetooth software patch for Mercedes c350 sport?

I recently purchased a new Mercedes and was told by the sales manager that my existing phone--an LG 8700 from Verizon--would work with the bluetooth installed in the car. In short, it doesn't. Is there anything I can do to make it work? Is there a software patch I can download? I'm well aware of the trusted devices list on Mercedes Benz's website; I guess I'm just trying to look for a solution here. Any suggestions other than buying a new phone?
