what is the use of the patch file and why do most of the people use it as a key for the software ?

most of the people use the patch file for the software as a key but i don't understand how to use it. can it work as a key or make virtual on the registry file. why don't they use key instead of patch file. Please help me to solve this question.

1. It sounds like you are describing a file that is commonly used in software piracy. Often this is called a "patch" and what it does it it modifies or replaces code within the actual program with bogus information (registration information, key file, etc) or it cripples the programs need for legitimate licensing. People use it because they do not want to pay for the software either because they can't afford the software or they are just greedy and feel they are above the law.
2. I Dont know specifically what your workin with, but I know Patches can Be Used to fix bugs in programs or to bypass things such as make a 3 day trial unlimited by changing the date in the program. some you run once, some you run every however many days. I Know when I used to Use Em You Would Just put it in the same file as the folder and run it after installation or before opening up the program.
